1. Plan Your Day the Night Before

Before going to bed, spend at least 5 minutes to create your to-do list for the next day. Planning your day makes sure that you’ll be better prepared mentally for the challenges ahead before you wake up and it leaves no room for procrastination in the morning. Ergo, you’ll be able to work faster and smoother all day long!

2. START YOUR DAY WITH THE HARDEST TASK

When you tackle your day with a lot of tasks to get through, it is obvious that after some hours, your productivity can decrease. You may also think that it’ll be easier to tackle easier tasks first. However, prioritizing all simple tasks first to handle tougher work later can be a form of Procrastination.

Procrastination is the biggest thief of productivity and avoiding hard tasks can increase your stress and workload in the long run. When you start your day by working on the hardest task first, you get a psychological boost that comes with knowing that things will be easier ahead and a sense of self-motivation that YOU CAN DO it and get through the rest of your day.

3. Create A Master Grocery List

You may have to spend some time planning a grocery list. To cut sometime in planning, paste the previous list on the fridge, and mark things off as you run out or you may also add things you need to buy. Next time you go shopping, you’ll know exactly what you need right away.

4. Eliminate Distractions

Distractions decrease your productivity and focus. A study conducted at the University of California found that it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds to get back to a task after getting distracted! Distractions waste a lot of time than you’d imagine. To avoid distractions start by trying these hacks:

  • Turn off all notifications to avoid checking your phone frequently.
  • Avoid browsing social media at work. Or you can browse it for just a couple of minutes.
  • Leave your phone in unusual places to prevent you from finding it immediately.

5. Break Down Big Tasks

If you have huge tasks to complete then you may get tired of just thinking about the amount of work you’ll have to do to complete them. So you may end up procrastinating by doing mindless tasks instead of starting them.

To avoid procrastination, break down your bigger tasks into smaller and manageable tasks with milestones that you can achieve. Creating a timeline for small tasks will help you to complete them. Divide the task in such a way that each small task should take less than one hour to complete. Take it a bit by bit.

6. No Multi-Tasking

Multi-tasking is a myth. Our brain can work on only one task at a time.

So, develop the habit of single-tasking by training your brain to concentrate on only one task at a time. Keep your phone away while working on a task. Train yourself by turning off all the distractions and set a timer for 30 minutes. In those 30 minutes, work on a single task and try to complete it.

7. Avoid Perfectionism

Don’t let your perfectionism take away your time. It allows you to focus on what you are doing right, rather than what you need to improve. It also allows you to be good enough in one, and several areas of your life.

It’s astonishing how being just good enough helps you create time and space!

8. Opt For Online Banking

Go online to pay your monthly bills. You’ll save time and money that you’ll spend on traveling to pay the bills. It’ll help you avoid late-payment charges, and you’ll have less paperwork to do. Shopping online can also save you a lot of time and effort.

9. Park your car a few lanes away

In your busy schedule, you’ll hardly get time to exercise. You must be spending at least 30 minutes each day to exercise and maintain your health. So by parking your car a few lanes away from your work may help you get some exercise.

It will also give you some time to think, which in turn can increase your productivity.

10. Take Time Off to Recharge

Our body and mind need some break or rest from the busy life to function properly. Taking some time to recharge is important to sustain your motivation, productivity, and passion. Short breaks during a stressful task can help you rest and maintain focus. It can also make you feel more refreshed when you get back to your task.

If you hate your job, then no life hack can help you increase your productivity. It’s the satisfaction and fun that drives your passion, motivation, creativity, and fuels your productivity at work.
